Baked on the bright side!

Rudi's Organic Bakery wins!
Rudi’s ORGANIC BAKERY Named AMONG TOP foodieS FOR VEGETARIANS by Vegetarian Times Magazine READERS
I know I have mentioned Rudi's quite a few times on my blog so I was so happy to read that they have won such a great award. Their bread really deserves it. The sourdough which I am a huge fan of got a great shout out by being the top sourdough of choice by vegetarians. I have been a Rudi's lover for some time now because they make their bread the right way without the use of artificial chemicals or preservatives-- who needs that stuff anyways? They have more than just wholesome bread too-- there is bagels, english muffins, buns and now a gluten-free line too. Rudi's is the largest brand of organic breads for a reason--their bread tastes great and is good for you too! Want to try your own loaf and win a cute sandwich box to boot?
Well, email me and tell me which variety you would love to try. I will randomly select TWO lucky winners on Wednesday October 19th. GOOD LUCK.

Rando’s Bakery

When I was contemplating what I wanted for dinner last night I knew it had to be a homemade meatball sub! Using Butterballs turkey meatballs, my very own marinara sauce and Rando’s Italian bread it was hands down the perfect sandwich. The best part about these Rando Bakery Italian bread loaves is that they are par-baked meaning you have to finish the baking process leaving you with a fresh, hot, crispy on the outside- chewy on the inside piece of bread. Their HAND-MADE bread only needs to be heated in a 425 degree oven for 10 short minutes and you have a little slice of heaven. Not to mention the delicious smell that lingers in your kitchen. They have quite a few varieties like white (pictured), seeded and whole wheat. I am a huge fan of their unique 50% cooking process because the bread tasted fresh out of the oven and the homemade taste was stupendous. I have not had bakery bread that compared in a really long time.

Friday’s Lunch

The ultimate comfort food combo! Peanut butter and honey on a soft wheat bread. This sandwich was so good with just the right touch of sweetness. Peanut butter is always fabulous but what made the sandwich was the bread from Rudi’s Bakery and the smooth honey by Honey Ridge Farms. Rudi’s Organic Honey Wheat Sweet (say that ten times fast) is a regular on my shopping list as well as some of their other products like flax wraps and English muffins (the have tons of bread varieties to suit anyone). This was my first time having honey by Honey Ridge Farms. I love their honey because it is very sweet yet they add no sweeteners, honey does not need it! In addition to their gourmet honey they have – Honey Crèmes, Honey Balsamic Vinegars, Glazes, Grilling Sauces and gifts galore. They have an Asian inspired salad on their recipe page that will be making its way to my page in the next few days. It looks delicious.

I am sorry

I should have told you much sooner about these great bagels from Kim’s Light. For a mere 110 calories you can have a BAGEL. The whole bagel! A New York style BAGEL! That is where it starts—you can spread a little jam on there, peanut butter, plain, top with eggs, use it as a sandwich base, melt with cheese and make it into a pizza—need more ideas? Visit Kim’s site and see her inspiration for the kettle boiled bagels she makes. Kim’s recipes are truly amazing and great for anyone looking to lose or maintain without feeling deprived.

Killer Sandwich

“Killer Taste, Killer Texture and Killer Nutrition”
Just lunch but the combo turned out to be great—Dave’s Killer Bread (very grainy and hearty) with Smart Balance Peanut Butter and here is the REAL kicker—Raspberry Pepper Jelly by Aloha From Oregon! Jelly with a little heat to it. It was a superb combo with the peanut butter and bread, surprised me! There is a restaurant that I frequent that has various pepper jams on the menu and I always pass them up but on the right bread they are fantastic.

PS—A while back I reviewed Dave’s Killer Sin Bread “Cinnamon” bread. It is more like a nutty, seedy, cinnamon roll more than anything and it is AWESOME. Warmed up it is like an ooey gooey treat. Better than those mall buns and better for your buns!

Lovesticks

I bet you wondered WHAT this post would possibly be about??? You thought this was a foodie blog… think again! Just kidding—I am talking about Judy’s Breadsticks aka Lovesticks. She calls them this for good reason—bite into them and fall in love. I have a variety of Judy’s awesome vegan bread products including the best croutons I have even bitten into, vegan wheaty bread topped with sesame seeds and scrumptious breadsticks of course. What have I tried so far? The bread, croutons and breadsticks of course! That’s all of it. Once I bit into a crouton I based my dinner around that bite of garlicy, wholesome goodness fresh from Judy’s LOVELY oven! Order them here, you won’t be disappointed.

Isolate Protein Benefits

Whey protein isolate may be more expensive but very worth the benefits you reap! What makes it an isolate is that all the non-protein elements are removed, has a higher protein content, most of the fat is removed and it is a complete protein. That being said-- What I am about to show you is P28 a High Protein Bread made with 100% Whey Protein Isolate. Yes it is true--you can eat bread and still get leaner all the while meeting your protein goals. Now check it out:

I made myself an almond butter sandwich on this and it was outstanding. Each slice of bread is enormous and provides 14 grams of high quality isolate protein. When I got my fresh loaf in the mail they provided me with a cost savings sheet which I thought was SO cool considering we are in a recession. Here it is:
